Monster Patch

photo/idea credit
My boys are always tearing holes in their knees.  This is a really fun way to make the fix!  Major props to Marieke Miekks's blog for this awesome tutorial.
You need:

  • Piece of fabric interfacing
  • White felt
  • Black embroidery thread and needle
  • sewing machine

Step 1:
Iron the fusible web on the back of your piece of fabric and cut the fabric in an oval. Make sure the fabric is about 3 inches wider and higher than the crack.
Cut a piece of felt in the form of teeth, take a 'joint value "of an inch at the top.The width should be equal to the crack.
Step 2:
Sew the teeth at the top of your piece of fabric, just along the edge (also by hand, or I did it with the sewing machine).
Step 3:
Place the fabric behind the crack with teeth, so that the fabric is more than one inch wider than the crack. Sew with the embroidery thread around with a running stitch (- - - -), about 1 / 2 inch of the crack. Then sew again around the openings between the tear also fill (-----).
Step 4:
Cut two circles for the eyes from white felt.  Sew them with embroidery thread, like this example:
Done!
