This looks like a whole lotta fun, super simple to do, and will likely keeps the kids busy for hours outside....what more could you ask for?!?! A Little Learning For Two has this fantastic idea posted over on their blog. I love the fact that it's a craft using materials you likely already have on-hand - tap water (you've got plenty of that, right?), small trinkets or your kids little toys (you could even grab a few new ones from the Dollar Store if you wanted to surprise 'em), and balloons. That's it. That, and some freezer time is all that is required. Basically you fill balloons with small toys, add water and freeze overnight. The next day you cut away the balloons and out pop these lovely "Ice Eggs". My kids (I can assure you) will really have a blast watching these melt in the sun, and helping their little toys "hatch" by diggin' 'em out, and/or smashing them on the ground. A fun way to spend the afternoon either way! Now just to make sure they don't throw them at each other - THAT could be a problem!
