Deal Of The Day - Steve Spangler Science

I cannot show this to my boys, or they will be BEGGING me for this.  Then upon receipt they would run all over the house collecting samples....from around the toilet, the dog's mouth, the litter box....I'm sure the possibilities are endless!  Steve Spangler Science's Deal Of The Day is 40% off a Bacteria Growing Kit - Petri Dishes.  This would also make a cool Science Fair Experiment!  You can grab this for just $8.99 while supplies last (normally $14.99).
UPDATE:  OK, I couldn't resist....I ordered it for the boys for Valentine's.  (Think a bacteria growing kit is not appropriate for Valentine's?  You don't have three boys!).   Shipping was expensive, so the total ended up being nearly $20.  But they say that all internet orders get a FREE GIFT, and you tell them about yourself so they can tailor the gift to you.  I'll let you know what I get!  :)

Valentine's Daily Deal Offer

Today's deal from Plum District is a sweet (and cheap) way to treat your Valentine.  $25 gets you a special order cheesecake and half a dozen chocolate dipped strawberries ($60 value).  This deal is only available TODAY.  For Valentine's delivery you must place your order with KC Cake Shop by 2/8/12.  Limit one per person.

HUGE AppleSauce Deal At Target

I pack 3 lunches every morning for 3 very hungry boys.  Trying to pack healthy gets expensive, so whenever I can find a deal, I get REALLY excited.  This is me jumping up & down!  If you are a Mom packing lunches every day, you will want to RUN to your local Target.  Seriously - pick up the kids, and head straight there.  This deal is getting on the coupon blogs, and the stock will be gone, so don't wait a few days.  Do it TODAY or tomorrow.  If your kids are like mine, they WON'T eat regular yogurt, but GoGurt is a BIG HIT.  They don't like regular applesauce, but these new handy little applesauce pouches are POPULAR!  I guess it's more convenient to just squirt something in your mouth, as opposed to having to use a utensil (or maybe that's just MY BOYS!).  Target has the GoGo squeeZ applesauce pouch Value 12-packs on temporary price cut for $2.29 (down from $6.49).  There are two flavors - plain applesauce and strawberry applesauce.  My Target was all out of the strawberry, but had plenty of the regular applesauce.  Wait......it gets even BETTER!  Head to the GoGo squeeZ facebook page and print off a coupon for $0.75 off.  WOW!  NOTE - I usually buy a 4-pack of these on sale for $2.  This is a TWELVE PACK for $2.29 ($1.54 with the coupon).  I found them in the regular applesauce aisle AND on an endcap in the Bodega Section.  OK....that's it.  What are you waiting for?!!!   Scoot!

Thanks, Totally Target!

POSSIBLE Free Corner Bakery Cafe Combo Coupon (facebook)

Reminder - Let The Buyer Beware!

Some of you may recall I did a little.....ummm....shall we say "venting" about the daily deal site Savemore.com back on December 9th of last year.  You can refresh your memory on that post HERE.  Since my issues with that company, I have not purchased another deal from them.  I HAVE continued to follow the trials and tribulations of OTHERS who have purchased from them - their facebook page is filled with disgruntled consumers.  I will leave it to you to decide whether or not this is a company you wish to do business with.  But I did come across THIS ARTICLE from the Dallas Better Business Bureau that now ranks this company as an "F".  There are TONS of GREAT, reputable Daily Deal Sites out there.....Groupon, Plum District and Living Social (to name a few).  I buy Daily Deals ALL THE TIME, and almost never have a problem (Savemore.com was the exception).   I will continue to post Daily Deals on this blog from companies that I have done business with, and have found to be reputable.  But let this just serve as a gentle reminder that you, as a buyer, should beware of any and all purchases you make.  If it seems too good to be true, it likely is.

Today Is National Dress Up Your Pet Day!

OK, this proves it - there IS a day for everything!  I hope you didn't miss out on this important event!  Send me a shot of your favorite four legged friend for a shout out!  And lest you think that I have never dressed up my pets.......here are dearly departed Bandit (on the left) and Abby (on the right)......two of the best dogs anybody could have asked for.  I miss 'em.

Our WWE Gingerbread Men

You may remember yesterday I posted that we scored a Gingerbread Men kit at Michael's yesterday for just $1.99 during their 90% clearance.  Knowing my boys the way I do, I knew that they wouldn't have a problem making Gingerbread Men after the holidays.  I must admit, though, that I kinda underestimated their creativity.  THIS is what they came up with - WWE (wrestling) Gingerbread Men!  AJ made an Undertaker on the left, and (of course) Zach made his idol John Cena.  These are just two examples - they also made Alberto DelRio and Kane.  HILARIOUS!  I just had to share!  :D

Michael's - 25% Off ENTIRE Regular Price Purchase

If you're planning a trip to Michael's you may want to hold off until Monday, Jan 16th.  They just released a new 25% Off Entire Regular Price Purchase coupon.  Note - it's only good Monday, and not valid on sale items.  Go HERE to print.

Miracle Household Cleanser

photo/idea credit

Apparently Jillee over at One Good Thing has discovered what she calls a Miracle Household Cleanser.  After looking at her Before and After photos, I'm in!  Yep, my cookie sheets look just like hers (but the right hand side!).  Head HERE for her simple recipe - it's just baking soda and peroxide.  Two things I've already got on-hand!  She also used it to make her plastic cooking utensils look like new.  You'll need to see her photos to believe it.  Then you'll be sold too!  Now off to dig out those nasty baking pans and fix 'em up......

Michael's - 90% Off Christmas Clearance

I went to Michael's specifically to get a Pinewood Derby kit for AJ (he's going to compete in the Sibling Race).  While I was there I noticed that ALL their Christmas stuff is 90% off.  I picked up these two CUTE Gingerbread Cookie kits for just $1.99 each.  One is Cookie Pops, and the other is Cookies with fondant, icing and candy to decorate.  The kids love making (and eating these), and for $2, I'm perfectly happy to have something to keep them occupied for a little while - ESPECIALLY with a three day weekend upon us!  I paid JUST $4.99 for the wreath, and $5.99 for the Poinsetta basket.  I'm a happy girl!  They had a HUGE selection, and the cashier told me they had JUST marked it all 90% down a few hours ago.  Perfect timing!  Don't ya just LOVE when things work out that way?  :)

Target 70% Off Toy Clearance Deals

Because we had some time to kill before picking up my high schooler today, we stopped by Target to check out their 70% Off  Toy Clearance.  While it was seriously picked over, and the shelves at this particular Target were almost bare, what we did find I'm REALLY pleased with!

• Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar - $19.99 (was $39.99).  While this was only 50% off, the boys seriously enjoyed their first Lego Advent Calendar this past Christmas and it was a HUGE hit.  Every morning it was a race to the Advent Calendar to see what surprise was in store for them.  I figured this was money well spent and I'll just be pleasantly surprised when I open up my Christmas decorations next year and remember that I got this!
• Sega Genesis Sonic Plug 'N Play Game - $5.98 (was $19.99).  This is for the birthday closet.  Next time somebody comes home with a boy's birthday party invitation, we're all set!  It will look like we bought a really nice gift (which we did), but it only cost me $6!
• Pokemon Unova Region Playset - this was on AJ's Christmas Wish List, and I could not bring myself to pay $50 for this.  When he spotted it for $14.95, I thought he was going to cry.  Seriously.  It just so happens that he had exactly $15 left over from his birthday/Christmas money.  He and Zach are currently in the living room working like a team to put it together.  This was his purchase, not mine. HUGE SCORE!
• Gomu Eraser Sets - I didn't get a shot of these, 'cuz the boys have already torn into them (they didn't even make it inside the house intact!).  They had sets of three for $0.88 (normally $2.99) and sets of 6 for $1.48 (normally $4.99).  They had a big selection of all these.  These make nice "fillers" for birthday presents (or Valentine's Day!!!), but my Birthday Closet is pretty well stocked.
