It's Spring Break, and we are kickin' back and chill-axing. Which basically means eating a ton, sleeping late, playing lots of video games and hopefully spending some time in the Great Outdoors. We are expecting beautiful weather later this week (it's FREEZING right now!), so I'm sure a trip or two to the park will be in order!
Tomorrow I send my big 'un (Sam) off to Indianapolis on an adventure. He is playing in the American Honor Orchestra and will be gone for 5 days (boo hoo). I am a bundle of nerves sending him off on his own - this will be his first trip without the entire school band! Here's to praying he makes it to & from safely, and has a fantastic journey. I'm sure he will, and we are so proud of him!
Meanwhile the little guys and I will be holding down the fort here, while poor Tim keeps trodding off to work each day - SOMEBODY'S got to make the money, right?!
It is my intention to keep up the daily blogging, but note that I am at the mercy of Zach and AJ. They tend to bogart my computer while they have time on their hands. Looking for some cheap activities to keep the kiddos occupado during break? Here are just a few of our favorites:
- Check out your local library - did you know you can check out movies, DVDs, audio books and software too? Local libraries aren't just for books anymore!
- Go bowling
- Head to the park & fly kites, have a picnic while you're at it
- Take a nature walk around the neighborhood. My boys like to collect rocks. Have everyone bring a baggie and collect sticks, rocks, leaves and anything else that looks interesting. Then come home & lay it all out on the kitchen table and make art.
- Redbox offers cheap movie & game rentals
- Explore your city - ours is chockful of museums, art galleries & other interesting sites we've never seen before
- READ a good book (or three!)
- Build a fort in the living room - everyone gets their own, then pop some popcorn and have movie night
