Home Depot - One Year Plant Guarantee

 ONE YEAR PLANT GUARANTEE
Did you have a green thumb or (like me) a BLACK one?  If you have a tendency to kill off your plants, you may be interested to know that Home Depot has a One-Year Plant Guarantee.  So next time you purchase any kind of plant or tree from a Home Depot garden center, be sure to hold onto your receipt.  Even if the plant is a victim of your over (or under) watering, they'll take it back - no questions asked!  Just bring in your receipt and the dying plant.  AWESOME program.  I know for a fact that this works.  Shhhhhh....don't tell anyone, but my sister-in-law is a NOTORIOUS plant killer.  She SWEARS by this guarantee, and only gets her plants from Home Depot.  That way if (OK, when) the plant dies she's covered.  LOVE IT!

  1. The 1yr. guarantee is ONLY on perennials, not annuals. Also some people Are having trouble w/ returns. Just google Home Depot plant return policy, & you will see forum posts of some people saying H.D. not honoring plant policy. So, caution. My experience & that of others on forums is that you can count on Lowes 1 yr policy on perennial plants.

  2. I just had trouble at Home Depot trying to return plants that I paid cash for and had a receipt for. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE of Home Depot. Their Return Policy is not what they advertise on their many commercials.

  3. I had the tag, the dead plant and the date I purchased it but no receipt. Was treated like crap by customer service and they refused to do anything for me. I asked if they could scan the barcode and look it up that way, but that was far too complicated for them. I bought 2 perennial hibiscus last July, one came back, one did not. Why on earth they would assume I am trying to scam them, when I lugged the dead plant and the original tag into the store is beyond me.

  7. My Gardenias froze over last week. I've only had them for a little over three months. Do I have a chance at getting a refund or exchange ? Or should I just let it go ?

  8. We purchased Green Giant Arborvitaes last year from our local HD. We were told they had a one year warranty and we could return them if there was a problem for a full refund. After fussing over the trees all spring, fall, and winter, we finally decided they were just not going to make it and dug them up. We wrapped the roots up and hauled them back to HD. When we finally got them inside, the clerk said she would have to issue a store credit because it had been over 90 days. I told her when we purchased the trees, we had been informed by HD store personnel there was a one year warranty and we could get a full refund as long as it was within the one year time frame. After a lot of BS from the clerk, including a really bad attitude and a lengthy stand at the customer service desk, she finally said she could not issue a credit back to my credit card. When I balked again she could give me back cash instead. I said whatever as long as it was not a store credit. She wound up figuring our credit wrong and then giving me back too much money. Because she quizzed me about how we planted the trees and then acted like we did something wrong, made me wait in line for so long while she fiddled around, and was really hateful to me, I did not say anything about her mistake when she flung the cash down in front of me without counting it back to me. Since she's so smart, let her figure out her own mistakes!
